Sara Jones

Dr Sara Jones

Sara currently holds an RCUK research fellowship in creativity applied to design and engineering, with a particular focus on software-based product design. She has been working in the fields of human-computer interaction and requirements engineering since 1987, and has published extensively in conferences and journals in these areas. Sara has taught a wide range of different courses in related areas, and has supervised five PhDs. She currently teaches creativity in interactive system design for both the Masters in Human-Centred Systems and the Masters in Innovation, Creativity and Leadership at City University London. She is also the Course Director for the Masters in Innovation, Creativity and Leadership.

Neil Maiden

Professor Neil Maiden

MICL Module Leader:'Leading Creative Design'

As Professor of Systems Engineering in the School of Informatics, Neil has been researching creativity in software development for the last decade. Through his focus on requirements engineering, he has been developing models, techniques and software tools to introduce more creative thinking about what systems, often computer-based ones, should do before the systems are designed and built. Results have been applied in large-scale projects, especially to improve the management of aircraft in Europe. See Neil's full profile here



Clive Holtham

Professor Clive Holtham

Professor of Information Management - Faculty Management.
Director - Cass Learning Laboratory

As Professor of Information Management, Clive has been closely involved for nearly two decades in leading-edge approaches to creativity and innovation. This has included projects funded by large international companies, the UK government and the EU. In 2003 he was additionally appointed Director of the Cass Learning Laboratory which researches and implements novel approaches to management learning. He co-developed a ground-breaking and successful MBA module on "The Art of Management" which uses approaches taken from the fine arts to gain new insights into management and leadership. He is co-chair of the Learning in Higher Education 2010 international conference on "Creativity in teaching and learning".

Maryann Kernan

Mary Ann Kernan

Mary Ann draws on a long career as a successful commercial publisher as well as a variety of achievements as a consultant since 1991. She was a Director of Methuen & Co Ltd and Deputy Publisher at Routledge.And she has worked as a consultant in e-learning, publishing, training and product development. In addition to her role at City University, she currently teaches at Kingston University, and as taught previously for the School of Management, University of Surrey, the Open University and Midlesex University.
She also works as a consultant, both for commercial publishers and as a mangement training analyst, designer and deliverer. A 2008 project took her to India to advise HarperCollins' educational and reference divisions.

Fiona Patterson

Professor Fiona Patterson is a leading expert in the field of assessment, creativity and innovation. She has over 20 years experience of working at a strategic level with a variety of FTSE 100 companies and public sector organisations. Prior to her posts in academe, she was Head of Organisational Psychology at The Boots Corporation Plc an internal consultant psychologist at Ford Motor Company Limited (Global).

Fiona publishes widely in assessment and innovation and over the past 10 years, her research has had a major impact upon governmental and corporate policy in many settings. In 2008, Fiona was is the first social scientist to be awarded research funding by NESTA (National Endowment Science Technology and the Arts) for research on innovative people in organisations She is author of the Innovation Potential Indicator (IPI) published by Oxford Psychologists Press, a psychometric assessment tool used across the globe. This work was nominated by the Design Council for the Millennium 'Best of British' Award in 2001

Phil O'Shea

Phil O'Shea

Senior Lecturer in screenwriting and Programme Director of the MA Creative Writing (Plays & Screenplays), School of Arts

Phil is an established film and television screenwriter who has also worked in the UK, US and Germany. Phil wrote and co-directed the feature film Vampire Diary (2008) which won best film at the Milan International Film Festival and three other major awards. Phil also wrote the feature films Spirit Trap (2005), and The Harpist (1998) and has written over 30 hours of TV drama for BBC, Channel 5, ITV, Sky TV and Canadian TV. His stageplay, Playing for England was performed at the King's Head Theatre, Islington in 2006. Phil has won the UK Film Council '25 words or less' £10,000 screenwriting award, the Tours Film Festival special drama prize, the documentary prize Toronto, and the Virgin Atlantic Travel Film Award. He has lectured on screenwriting at Birkbeck College, London South Bank University, the City Literary Institute, and many film schools.

Dr. Máire Kerrin

Visiting Lecturer in Organisational Psychology, Department of Psychology.
Founding Director of the Work Psychology Group

Máire (pronounced Maura) is the co-module leader for the Psychology of Creativity and Innovation module on the Masters in Innovation, Creativity, and Leadership. She is a Visiting Lecturer at City University having previously been a Senior Lecturer in Organisational Psychology in the Psychology Department and Course Director of the MSc Organisational Psychology. Prior to joining City, she was a Senior Consultant with the Institute for Employment Studies and Lecturer in Organisational Psychology at the University of Nottingham Business School.

She is a founding Director of the Work Psychology Group, a research led consultancy organisation. A Chartered Occupational Psychologist, Máire continues to contribute to research activities through various collaborations. An example of this collaboration at City University is in the area of innovation where she recently co-authored a report on Everyday Innovation: How to enhance innovative working in employees and organisations funded by the National Endowment for Science, Technology & the Arts (NESTA).

Andy Wilkins has more than 20 years' experience helping people, teams and organizations significantly improve their performance. He has delivered more than 450 programs, workshops and coaching sessions for international companies in 11 countries. Andy has many years' experience as a visiting lecturer at Cass Business School/City University in London on various MBA and MSc courses on innovation and management.
